Ermentrude was born in 1051. Ermentrude's father was Count Hugh DE Creil Of Claremont DE CLERMONT and her mother was Marquerite DE ROUCY. Her paternal grandparents were Count Renaud DE CLERMONT and Ermengardis DE CLERMONT; her maternal grandparents were Count Hildouin III DE MONTDIDIER, ROUCY & RAMERU and Heiress Alice DE ROUCY DE RHEIMS. She had a brother and two sisters, named Renald II, Richilde and Adeliza. She was the oldest of the four children.General Notes
Credited with the first unification of the country, convertedthe Danes to Christianity, and conquered Norway. After hisBaptism his fathers pagan tomb was transformed into a Christianplace of worship.
Introduced Christianity into Denmark, he had the famous Jellingrune stone erected in his parent memory. He was fatally woundedduring a rebellion by his son and successor, Sveng I.
