Roger the second son of Corbet, and elder of the two brothers who served under the Norman, William the Conqueror, held twentyfour manors in Shropshire, and one in Montgomeryshire, from his kinsman, Earl Roger de Montgomery, and was also highly in the confidence of Robert de Belesme, the third Earl of Shrewsbury. This Roger Corbet, the progenitor of all the Shropshire Corbets and their various branches, had three sons, William, Ebraid, and Simon.
