William de Clare 
William de was born on May 18th, 1228 in Gloucestershire, England. William de's father was Gilbert de Clare , Earl of Gloucester& Hertford and his mother was Isabel Marshal. His paternal grandparents were Richard de Clare , MCS, Earl of Hertford and Amice FitzRobert Countess of Gloucester; his maternal grandparents were William Marshal , 3rd Earl of Pembroke and Isabel de Clare , Countess of Pembroke. He had a brother and a sister, named Richard de and Isabel de. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 30 on July 23rd, 1258 in Retherford, Berwickshire, Scotland. He was buried in Dureford Abbey, Rogate, Sussex, England.General Notes
Note: I believe William de Clare's principal residence was in Leicestershire, because the "Visitations of Leicestershire" was used as a source for him by CP. As to his death in "Retherford", a mapping program said Retherford was in the Berwickshire area of Scotland, in which case he may have been killed in some skirmish with the Scots; or it may be that Rotherfield was meant instead of Retherford, and he was visiting his distant cousins, the Greys of Rotherfield.
