Complete Peerage gives no ancestry for Joan. I found this ancestry on World Connect. The ancestry doesn't give much details on dates (obviously "estimated") and places, other than Charwelton and Middleton in Northamptonshire. There is a Middleton Cheney in Northampton (as well as a Middleton). I wonder if this family has something to do with the Cheneys, as some people imply by the alternate name for Joan.
