Joan de was born about 1245 in Calne, Wiltshire, England. Joan de's father was William III de Cantelou , of Calne & Ashton,Sir and her mother was Eve de Braose , Heiress of Abergavenny. Her paternal grandparents were William II de Cantelou , of Calne, Sir and Milicent de Gournay; her maternal grandparents were William 6th Baron de Braose , Lord Abergavenny and Eva Marshal. She had a sister named Milicent de. She was the older of the two children. She died before June 1271.General Notes
He [Henry de Hastinges] married Joan, sister and coheir of Sir George DE CANTELOU, Lord of Abergavenny, and daughter of Sir William DE CANTELOU, of Calne, Wilts, and Aston Cantlow, co. Warwick, by Eve, 3rd daughter and coheir of Sir William DE BRAIOSE, Lord of Totnes, Brecknock and Abergavenny. He died shortly before 5 March 1268/9. His widow died before June 1271.
