Hywel Dda had other children in addition to Owain ap Hywel Dda.

Hywel Dda, (the Good), 'King of all Wales", king of Gwynedd, 915, did homage to
Edwin the Elder, son of Alfred the Great, 918, journied to Hereford, circa 926,
to acknowledge overlordship of Aethelstan, in whose reign he attested many
charters, 931-937, made pilgrimage to Rome, 928, minted his own silver pennies,
codified the laws of Wales, circa 945, m. Elen, dau of Llywarch ap Hyfaidd,
King of Dyfed (Pembs.), and d. ca. 950, having had a son, Owain ap Hywel Dda.

"Hywel (or Howell) the Good was celebrated as the 'Justinian of Cambria'
because of his codification of the laws and his institution of trial by jury
with a judge who should act as 'Christ withe the twelve Apostles'.  His laws
became known as the Law of Hywel Dda (Dda meaning 'The Good').  King of Dyfed
in 904, King of Seisyllwg in 909, King of Gwynedd in 942, thus uniting the
Kingdom of Wales.  Made a pilgrimage to Rome in 928 and was the only Welsh
ruler to mint his own coinage.  He entered into an alliance with the King of
Essex.  Married Elen on 904 and had sons Rhodri, Edwin, and Owen, who split the
kingdom upon his death, with Owen taking the Kingdom of South Wales." [Sources
