Robert de was born in 1210 in Annandale, Dumfrieshire, Scotland.  Robert de's father was Robert de Brus , Baron of Annandale and his mother was Isabella Huntingdon.  His paternal grandparents were William de Brus , Baron of Annandale and Christine; his maternal grandparents were David Earl of Huntingdon and Maud of Chester. He had a brother named Bernard.  He was the older of the two children. He had a half-sister named Euphemia de.  He died at the age of 85 on May 31st, 1295 in Loch Maben Castle, Dumfrieshire, Scotland.  He was buried in Guisburn, Cleveland, Yorkshire, England.
