Matilda (Maud) De was born about 1146 in Bramber, Sussex, England.  Matilda (Maud) De's father was William II De Braose 1st Baron Of Gwentland/Braose and her mother was Bertha De Heiress Of Brecon/Pitres. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Philip De, William III 5Th Baron De, Engeram De, Reginald De, Roger De, Giles De, Maud De, Avelina Agnes De, Sybil De, Bertha De and Susan Maud De.  She was the fourth oldest of the twelve children.
