John De was born about 1082 in Bramber, Sussex, England. John De's father was Sir William I Baron De Braose Sir and his mother was Agnes De St. Clare. His paternal grandparents were Robert Le Brus and Gunnora; his maternal grandparents were Walderne De St. Clair and Helene "Le Bon" De Normandy.
