His paternal grandparents were William II De Braose 1st Baron Of Gwentland and Bertha De Pitres Heiress Of Brecon/Hereford; his maternal grandparents were Bernard IV De St. Valery and Eleanor De Domnart. He had twelve brothers and seven sisters, named Roger De, Robert De, Thomas De, Giles De, William IV The Younger De, Walter De, Reginald De, Henry De, Bernard De, Fulk De, Phlilp De, John De, Flandrina De, Matilda De, Joan De, Laurette De, Margaret De, Leuca De and Eleanor De.
