PHILLIP's father was William de BRAOSE, 1st Baron of Abergavenny SHERIFF OF HEREFORD and his mother was Bertha De GLOUCESTER. His paternal grandparents were Sir Philip de BRAOSE and Aenor De TOTNAIS; his maternal grandparents were Miles fitzwalter EARL OF HEREFORD and Sybil de NEUFMARCHE Countess of Hereford. He had five brothers and eight sisters, named William de, Reginald De, Roger De, John De, Giles De, Matilda De, Sybil de, Isabel De, Gillian De, Miss De, Engeram De, Joan Alicea and Bertha De. He was the fifth oldest of the fourteen children.-
