Queen Matilda was born about 1072 in Huntington.  Queen Matilda's father was Waltheof of Northumbria and her mother was Countess Judith de Lens.  Her paternal grandparents were Uchtred of Northumbria and Aelfgrifu of England; her maternal grandparents were Lambert  II of Lens and Princess Adelaide of Normandy.  She was an only child.
