Mary "Polley" was born on July 4th, 1783 in Ashford, Windham Co, CT. Mary "Polley"'s father was Ephraim Squire and her mother was Priscilla Sibley. Her paternal grandparents were Philip Squire and Elisabeth Yeomans. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Ethan, Ephraim, Stephen, John Wesley, Joel, Sarah and Priscilla.
