Philip was born in 1350 in Ingestre, Stafford, Eng. Philip's father was William Chetwynd and his mother was Matilda Verdon. His paternal grandparents were Philip Chetwynd and Alice de Grendon; his maternal grandfather was Sir John Verdon. He had three brothers named William, John and Richard.
