"Jany 14th [1701] Having been certified last night about 10. oclock ofthe death of my dear Mother at Newbury, Sam. and I set out with JohnSewall, the Messenger, for that place. Hired Horses at Charlestown: setout about 10. oclock in a great Fogg.... Jany 15th With Bror and sisterwe set forward for Newbury: where we find that day appointed for theFuneral: twas a very pleasant Comfortable day.

Went abt 4.p.m.Nathanl Bricket taking in hand to fill the Grave, I said, Forbear alittle, and suffer me to say That amidst our bereaving sorrows We havethe Comfort of beholding this Saint put into the rightfull possession ofthat Happiness of Living desire'd and dying Lamented. She live'commendably Four and Fifty years with her dear Husband, and my dearFather: And she could not well brook the being divided from him at herdeath; which is the cause of our taking leave of her in this place....
