Her paternal grandparents were Richard Fitzgilbert Clare and Rohese Gifford; her maternal grandparents were Hugh Clermont and Margaret Roucy. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Richard Fitzgilbert, Baldwin, John, Margaret, Hawise and Roheasia. She was the third oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named Richard.-
