CARATENE's father was RICMERE de SVEBERN and her mother was ALYPIA de ROME. Her paternal grandfather was EDEKO de SVEBERN; her maternal grandparents were ANTHEMIUS de ROME and EUFEMIA de ROME. She was an only child.
They had two sons named GONDOBALD KING and CHILPERIC II KING.
