(Sir) Robert was born in 1403 in Letheringham, Suffolk, England.1 (Sir) Robert's father was Robert Wingfield and his mother was Elizabeth Russell. His paternal grandparents were (Sir) John Wingfield and Margaret Hastings; his maternal grandfather was (Sir) John Russell. He was an only child.
