Jacob H. Merrill 
Jacob H. was born in 1854 in Magnolia Township, Rock Co., Wisconsin, U.S.A..1 Jacob H.'s father was William Merrill and his mother was Sarah Ann Morrell. His maternal grandparents were Joseph Morrell and Anna-Maria Stoner. He had a brother and a sister, named Thomas Jefferson and Emily Adelaid. He was the youngest of the three children. He had four half-brothers named Hosea F., George Francis, James C. and Elhanon Winchester. He died after 1860.1 General Notes

There is conflicting information on the father of Jacob. THe 1860 census indicates that Jacob was born between August 1853 and May 1854. Sarah did not marry George Washington until March 25, 1855. It appears that Jacob was born as a Morrill , but due to his young age when his mother remarried, went by the name Royer. The only indication of this was his name listing in the 1860 census.
Jacob could not be found on the 1870 census. He either left home at a young age (16) or had previously died.
