Raymond Ier was born in 1202. Raymond Ier's father was Guillaume III Des Baux and his mother was Ermengarde De Sabran. His paternal grandparents were Bertrand Ier Des Baux and Thiburge II De Montpellier; his maternal grandfather was Guillaume III Ou II De Sabran. He was an only child.
