Théophanie was born about 1115. Théophanie's father was Etienne Ier De Penthièvre and her mother was Havoise De Guinguamp. Her paternal grandparents were Eudon De Penthièvre and Agnès Ou Onguen De Cornouaille. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Alain II Le Noir, Geoffroi II Botherel, Henry Ier, Olive and Agnorie. She was the youngest of the six children.-
