Gertrude was born in 1024. Gertrude's father was Luidolf Billungen De Frise-Occidentale and her mother was Gertrude De Nordgau. Her paternal grandparents were Bruno Ier Billungen D'ostphalie and Gisèle De Souabe; her maternal grandparents were Hugues IV De Nordgau and Hedwige De Dagsbourg. She had a brother and a sister, named Ekbert Ier Billungen and Agathe Billungen. She was the second oldest of the three children. She died at the age of 32 in 1056.-
