Thibaut III was born in 1011. Thibaut III's father was Eudes II De Blois and his mother was Irmengarde D'auvergne. His paternal grandparents were Eudes Ier De Blois and Berthe De Bourgogne; his maternal grandparents were Robert II D'auvergne and Hermengarde De Toulouse.
