His paternal grandparents were Alexis Ier Comnène and Irène Dukas; his maternal grandparents were Ladislas Ier Le Saint De Hongrie and Adélaïde De Rheinfelden. He had a brother named Jean Isaac Sébastocrator. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 34 in 1142.-
