Mary Lucy Varner 
Mary Lucy was born on May 14th, 1861 in Monroe County, Ohio near Graysville.1 Mary Lucy's father was Richard Ellis Varner and her mother was Elizabeth Abagail Dye. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph W. Varner and Lucy Andrews; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Dye and Mary Porter. She had a brother and four sisters, named Joseph E., Olive, Serepta, Una and Cloa. She was the oldest of the six children. Mary Lucy Varner was one of the first teachers in District 58, Pleasant Ridge, Morris County . The school was located at SE34-T14-R8E. The school opened in 1881 and closed in 1950. Sadie Farbridge was the first teacher. The Pleasant Ridge Church is Latitude: 38.4658 N Longitude :096.3005 W.
She was 18 years old when she came with her parents to Parkerville Kansas in 1879.
