Henry Glendening was born on August 22nd, 1851.1   Henry Glendening's father was Henry Carlock and his mother was Martha Glendening.  His paternal grandparents were George Osborn Carlock and Elizabeth Cox. He had four brothers and three sisters, named George William, Uriah Wells, Hiram Warner, John James, Sarah Ann, Martha Elizabeth and Susan Jane.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thomas Jefferson, Richard Caleb and Harriet Lenora.1
