James Marion Allen 
James Marion was born on November 27th, 1837 in Ohio.1 James Marion's father was William H. Allen and his mother was Lucretia Alford. His paternal grandparents were James Allen and Anna Collier; his maternal grandparents were John Alford and Margaret Wilson. He had two brothers and two sisters, named John Lee, William Harrison, Anna and Margaret Jane. He was the second oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named George Washington, Sarah Elizabeth and Mary Lucretia. He died at the age of 78 on February 12th, 1916 in Ironton, Lawrence County, Ohio.1 General Notes

ALLEN, JAMES Colonel - I.R. MAR 19, 1868
Died Mar 15, 1868 Ironton, Ohio of consumption. He was a Colonel in 2nd WV Cavalry. He was born in Fayette Co., VA, Feb 16, 1831 but moved to Jackson County, Ohio when very young. H e married in Gallia County in 1853. When the war broke out he volunteered and was made captain....After the war, he returned to old situation in the Clarke, Ricker & Co. machine works.
