Her paternal grandparents were Roger De Mortimer and Maud De Braose; her maternal grandparents were William De Fiennes and Blanche De Brienne. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Roger , 1 Earl March 8 Baron Mortimer, Hugh, Walter, Edmund, John, Elizabeth, Margaret, Matilda and Joan. She was the oldest of the ten children.
