Augustine was born in 1720 in Wakefield Plant, Westmoreland Co. VA..1 Augustine's father was Augustine Washington and his mother was Jane Butler. His paternal grandparents were Lawrence Washington and Mildred Warner-e. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Butler, Lawrence, Samuel, Charles, John Augustine, George, Elizabeth, Betty, Child and Mildred.General Notes

In 1748, acted with Thomas Lee and his brother Lawrence Washington to petition the King for p ermission
for a grant of lands beyond the Alleghanies. They were granted permission pending the build ing
of a fort to protect at least 100 settlers homes in the next seven years. They received a h alf
million acres free of tax for a period of 10 years. They requessted a cargo sutable for Indi an trade
for delivery Nov. 1749. In 1750 Christopher Gist was hired to explor the land and keep not e of his findings. (Everhart, 1882)
