Garnett Mitchell Riley 
Garnett Mitchell was born on October 7th, 1875 in Bank Lick Creek, Kenton County, Kentucky.1 Garnett Mitchell's father was George W. Riley and his mother was Nora I. Callent. His paternal grandparents were Woodford Riley and Bettie Rodgers; his maternal grandparents were William Callent and Martha J. Riley. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Charles, Denver, John Morgan, Edward Lee, Fred, George, Sallie Mae and Dora. He died due to Cardio Vascular complications at the age of 80 in 1955 in Independence, Kentucky. He was buried in Independence Cemetery, Independence, Kentucky.1 General Notes
There is a quote in the book from Garnett M. Riley concerning the original Riley's. Evidently they came over with Lafayette to fight in the Revolutionary War, and after the War, they settled in Culpepper, VA.
