Hancock was born about 1733 in ,Charles, Maryland, USA.1 Hancock's father was Phillip LEE and his mother was Elizabeth LAWSON. His paternal grandparents were Richard LEE and Letitia CORBIN. He had three brothers and five sisters, named John, Corbin, George, Elizabeth, Hannah, Laetitia Or, Alice and Margaret. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named RICHARD, Francis, Phillip, Thomas, Arthur, Eleanor, Anna and Sarah.-
