Hugh de was born about 1030 in Of, Hinckley, Lancastershire, England.1 Hugh de's father was Robert de GRENTEMESNIL and his mother was Hawise de ECHAFOUR. His paternal grandfather was Gervase de Grentmesnil; his maternal grandparents were Giroie de Escalfoy and Gisele de Montfort. He had two brothers and a sister, named Robert de, Arnold de and Adaliza de. He was the oldest of the four children. He died in At, Leicestershire, England.1 General Notes
