Rohese was born in 1034 in ,Longueville, Normandy, France.1 Rohese's father was Walter GIFFARD and her mother was Agnes Ermentrude FLEITEL. Her paternal grandparents were Osbert de Bolebec and Avelina de Crpon; her maternal grandparents were Gerald FLAITEL and Gerald FLAITEL. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Walter, William, Osborne (Osbert) (Gyffarde), Hugh, Adelaide, Isabella Constance Catherine and Lora. She was the second oldest of the eight children.
