William Anthony GHOLSON 
William Anthony was born in June 1705 in Spotsylvania Co. VA.1 William Anthony's father was Anthony GHOLSON SR. and his mother was Jane Hawkins. His paternal grandparents were John Gulston and Jane KETTERICH. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Anthony, John, Elizabeth and Lucy. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 90 in 1795 in Spotsylvania Co. VA.1 General Notes

William was the oldest son of Anthony and Jane Gholson. The first official public record o f him is in 1728 when he and his brother , Anthony Jr., shared a 1000 acre land grant on Terr y's Run, Spotsylvania County Virginia which they received from King George the Second. Thi s grant was made at the same time as the 1000 acre grant to their father and their property w as adjacent to his. William bought and sold many tracts of land during his lifetime and ver y likely became quite wealthy although no will or record of settlement of estate has been fou nd.
