Edward III the Confessor was born about 1002 in Islip, Oxfordshire, England.1   Edward III the Confessor's father was Ethelred II (Aethelred) and his mother was Emma de Normandy.  His paternal grandparents were Edgar and Elfrida Elfthryt Of Devonshire; his maternal grandparents were Richard I "Sans Peur" Longsword and Gonnor de CREPON. He had a brother and a sister, named Alfred and Godgifu. He had seven half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Athelstan of England, Ecgbert of England, Edmund II, Edred of England, Edwy of England, Edgar of England, unknown of England, Aelgifu (Elgiva) of England, Edgyth of England, Wulfhilda of England, Edgive of England and daughter.1
