Her paternal grandparents were William Woodford and Ann Maria Archer; her maternal grandfather was William Buckner. She had five brothers and three sisters, named William T. Buckner, John T., Thomas Catsby, Henry C., Benjamin W., Sarah Ann, Mary L. and Elizabeth Hawes. She was the youngest of the nine children.-
