John Smith WOFFORD

John Smith was born on February 18th, 1803 in Guilford Co., North Carolina.¹   John Smith's father was William Lafayette WOFFORD and his mother was Sarah Yerkes.  His paternal grandparents were John WOFFORD and Nancy Burroughs; his maternal grandfather was Samuel Yerkes. He had three brothers and three sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Charles Pinkney, Benjamin, William Doctor 'Doc', Elizabeth, Sarah, Levinia and James.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 82 on December 20th, 1885 in Dent Co., Missouri.  He was buried in December 1885 in Wofford Cemetery, Pilot Grove, Dent Co., Missouri.^1 1
