James Smith

James was born in 1853 in Washington Co., Missouri.¹   James' father was Benjamin T. Smith and his mother was Mrs. Emily Smith. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named William S., George W., Erasmus Benjamin, Mary C., Frances E., Alice G., Emily Jane, Sarah, Susan and Elizabeth.  He was the fourth youngest of the eleven children.
