His paternal grandparents were Ezekiel Robinson and Hannah; his maternal grandparents were John Manis and Celia. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Powell, Mack, Absalom, Fayette, Mary Ann, Sarah, Emeline, Elizabeth and Cornelia. He was the third youngest of the ten children.-
