Curtlan Powell 
Curtlan was born about 1876 in ,Effingham, Illinois.1 Curtlan's father was William Ewuen Powell and her mother was Ellen. Her paternal grandparents were Seymour R. Powell and Angeline. She had five brothers and a sister, named Theodore, Emerson, William Ewuen, Cleveland, George B. and Lola. She was the second oldest of the seven children. She had three half-sisters named Mary Jane, Sarah Ann and Ora Belle.
