Hugh was born in 1808 in ,Bourbon, Kentucky.1 Hugh's father was Hugh Miller and his mother was Mary Ewalt. His paternal grandfather was Hugh Miller; his maternal grandparents were Henry Ewalt and Elizabeth Frye. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Henry, William H., James, Mary Or Polly, Elizabeth and Margaret J.. He was the oldest of the seven children.-
