James Long

James was born in 1810 in Hawkins County, Tennessee.¹   James' father was John Long and his mother was Tabitha Woods.  His maternal grandfather was Joseph Woods. He had three brothers and a sister, named Joseph Kennedy, Isaac David, William and Ann.  He was the second youngest of the five children. He had six half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thomas Alexander, George Maxwell, Moses, Spencer Ball, Wesley Burton, Andrew Jackson and Rebecca Jane.
