Roena was born in 1862 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.1 Roena's father was John M. Klepper and her mother was Delilah Simmons. Her paternal grandparents were Peter Klepper and Catherine Myers; her maternal grandparents were George Simmons and Catherine Loudermilch. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Hiram, Peter, William R., Mary, Barbara C. and Rosa C.. She was the second oldest of the seven children.-
