Mary Jane Hicks

Mary Jane was born in 1849 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.¹   Mary Jane's father was Nathaniel R. Hicks and her mother was Jannett Gregg.  Her paternal grandparents were Nathaniel Hicks and Mary Smith; her maternal grandparents were Abraham Gregg and Jannette Allison. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Abraham, Edward, Sarah Rebecca, Martha, Rachel Katherine, Margaret Adeline and Julie Annis.  She was the oldest of the eight children.
