James C. Helton

James C. was born in 1857 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.¹   James C.'s father was Wiley Helton and his mother was Mariah.  His paternal grandparents were John Helton and Charity. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Jackson, Wiley Blount, Brownlow, William H., John, Stokley, Lucinda, Mary E. and Matilda J..  He was the oldest of the ten children.
