Tabitha was born on May 27th, 1793 in ,Hawkins, Tennessee.1 Tabitha's father was Richard Grantham and her mother was Frances Amis. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Amis and Alice Gale. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Amis, Lincoln, John Thomas, James, Richard, Penelope, Mary, Ann, Rachel, Rhoda and Alice Gale. She was the fifth oldest of the twelve children.-
