Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Galbraith and Martha Shanks. She had seven brothers and five sisters, named William, Harvey, Thomas B., James L., Audley, Andrew, Hugh, Margaret H., Elizabeth Ellen, Mary, Margaret and Matilda. She was the sixth oldest of the thirteen children.-
