Ira Lloyd's father was Trudo Cleveland Fuller and his mother was Nannie Pearl Cozart. His maternal grandparents were James Henry Cozart and Margaret Frances McCarver. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Joseph Donahue "Joe", Salamis McCarver "Mack", Juanita LaDelle, Lillian Della, Ludie Mae and Mary Francis "Frankie".
