Eleanor was born about 1432 in Marblethorpe, Lincs., England.1 Eleanor's father was Thomas Fitz William and her mother was Margaret Dymoke. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Fitz William and Elizabeth Aske; her maternal grandparents were John Dymoke and Margaret Ludlowe. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, John, Robert, Richard, William, Elizabeth, Joan, Jane, Margaret and Beatrice. She was the second oldest of the eleven children.-
