James Elkins Deckard

James Elkins was born in 1892 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.¹   James Elkins' father was James Wesley Deckard and his mother was Julie Annis Hicks.  His maternal grandparents were Nathaniel R. Hicks and Jannett Gregg. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Eugene Blake, Hobart Clay, Susan Elizabeth, Bertha Jane and Mattie Emmaline.  He was the third oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 82 in 1974.¹
